I've got chicks! When I came back from Wisconsin,
the eggs in my ruffed grouse's nest were broken and no one was around.
I assumed the worst, that some four footed creature had raided the nest.
I was sad.
Today I was walking through the orchard and there was Mrs. Grouse and all her
little chicks bouncing around. I grabbed my camera for some quick shots.
Technically, they're not good shots, but I don't care.
Life is happier in the north woods.
Added the shot of the chick hiding in my daylilies.
Update (August 1): The chicks are grown and have left the island.
I was walking on the island next to mine and ran into the family.
The chicks have grown from about 4 inches to about 12 inches tall..
