Bill builds his summer home
For some silly reason, my friend Bill decided to build his house on a 30 foot high granite rock on his mother-in-law's island in Lake of the Woods. Any building project up here reminds a person that "nothing is easy in the north woods".
He started in 2005 by clearing brush and trees off the area he was going to build on and poured the footings for his house.
In May of 2006, the real work began. Since I couldn't pound nails or carry things, I took pictures.
Bill returned and in 2007, continued work on his house.
It's 2008 and he's at it again!
Year Five of the building process, Year Four of pictures. It's 2009 and here we go again!
Year Six of the building process, Year Five of pictures. But not right now.... due to technical difficulties, the pictures are missing, but we're looking for them. Go look at 2011 pictures, okay?!
It's 2011 and we've got some photos! Things are progressing and Bill hopes to be all done by September. We'll see how it goes....
